Yep. Miso. How many of you have heard of miso? Or eaten miso? It's popular in a soup at Japanese restaurants. I was first introduced to miso as a pate appetizer on the Cafe Brenda menu in Minneapolis. I PROMISE you will love this. Serve with some crostini or your favorite cracker. On crust French bread. On your fingers! On your toes. Just try it!
1 and a half cup tahini
1 tsp garlic salt or fresh garlic
1/2 tbl dried basil
1 and 1/2 tbl parsley
2 tbl each red and white miso
2 tbl chopped green onion (or use this for garnish)
Use a mixer or food processor, adding 1/2-3/4 cup water at the end until desired consistency. As you may know tahini seizes up at first upon introducing water...it will loosen up.
And so will you if you open up a bottle of your favorite wine and serve this to your family and friends!
Shout out to my Cafe Brenda family and to my good buddy Liz for giving me my long lost recipe! If you're in Minneapolis Spoonriver is a MUST visit restaurant. It's located by the world famout Guthrie Theatre along the Mississippi River. And by the way, the photograph above would be a very yummy way to eat miso...in a lettuce wrap with fresh veggies! Brilliant!
