The other day on the yelp threads someone posted the question: What’s your dream vacation? Hawaii. Fiji. Australia kept popping up. All I could think of was “Wow, I JUST returned from my dream vacation!”
New York City. My playground. My mouth and my tummy love NYC. So I thought I would dedicate this trip to them. It was a total Culinary Comedian Foodie Adventure. Furthermore to be known as CCFA.
It started the very first night I arrived. My brother Sawyer and his partner Alex and I dined at The Hamilton Inn in Jersey City. Braised oxtail and sweet potato polenta with a roasted sweet potato salad. WOW! And this is just Joizy, night number one! A few beers and a couple of chilled tequila shots later we left extremely happy.
The next morning I took the train to Boston for a CCFA within the CCFA. So, the Boston blog is still to come.
Back to NYC…
Unfortunately before my trip I flew into a rage and fired my assistant. So the chronology of the CCFA may be a bit dicey. But delicious nonetheless.
My first Saturday I took the PATH from Jersey City to the Christopher Street Station in the West Village. And I had a delightful walk to Jane on Houston, strolling past dozens of restaurants with diners spilling onto the sidewalks. Those New Yorkers sure do love to eat outside!
While I won’t dock points from Jane (because it's been a fave restaurant of mine for over 10 years) , I was disappointed in my brunch item. It was Eggs Benedict served on corn cakes with chicken sausage and a roasted tomato hollandaise. Corn cakes were bland, not crisp at all on the outside and not creamy in the middle. The chicken sausage was so thick it easily overtook the entire dish. But I finished it! I needed my nourishment for my day journey to Central Park. My. Favorite. Place. In NYC!
Keep checking in for the next chapter of the CCFA!
Chow!
