Pronounced Kin Wa...this amazing grain is FULL of nutrition and most importantly lots o protein goodness. I've got many friends who add this to soups. I most recently had a quinoa salad from Tru Foods here in Phoenix...OMG...it had pomegranate seeds, hazelnuts and greens and was SO unbelievably delicious. I like the idea of combing the SUPER FOODS on one plate. Here's my idea...
Grilled salmon with a blueberry sauce (salmon and blueberry's both on the GOOD FOOD LIST!)...served with pureed yams (roasted with an onion, throw in some unfiltered apple juice, PURE maple syrup and a splash of tamari) along side a quinoa salad with walnuts and broccoli! Now don't get me wrong. I will still throw down an In N Out Animal Style any day of the week. Or toss back a couple Chicago dawgs...extra celery salt pahleeze! It's called balance people. AND portion control. Americans eat WAY too much food in one sitting. Not good. Not healthy. Just. Not!
I will work in finding some more yummy, healthy recipes and will most certainly BALANCE that out with some of my fave Paula Deen recipes and some faves from my childhood...
