Wow. I could just sum up my NYC vacation with a "Wow!"
First night. Dinner in the West Village. I forgot the name of the restaurant. But I will never forget that heavenly bowl of noodles with the poached egg. Somehow, even after my sake bomber, I navigated my chopsticks and lapped up every bite. This was a typical NYC scene in that the restaurant was very narrow, had a wait and community tables. I love them all! I know most people hate community tables, but I'm working on getting over my shyness and it really helps! Insert LOL here...
Second night...OK...who am I kidding I will NEVER remember the exact sequence of my fabulous NYC experiences. Let's move on to some touristy things I enjoyed with my friends Almon and Monika. Natural Museum of American History. I was a bit unsure. Not really into the dinasour thing or seeing stuffed zebras behind glass. But this was so interesting and I learned a lot. I also learned to ask where the restrooms are when you first arrive. We also enjoyed The Metropolitan Museum of Art....not too much time as it was closing. I've been several times. This time around I really enjoyed the Asian pottery. Considered taking one but apparently they frown on that.
Central Park! Central Park! Central Park! One of my favorite places on the planet. Showed my friends the Sheeps Meadow, Bethesda Fountain and The Boat House. People watching is unsurpassed in CP. I'm only annoyed by those who are exercising. HELLO? Have a hot dog and some warm nuts. Insert joke here.
OK. The big NYC night. Dinner at trendy Elmo in Chelsea. Gorgeous waiters with pretentious attitudes. Loved it. It's Chelsea for goodness sakes. We noshed on Kobe sliders, mac n cheese and calamari. I'm sure a few cocktails were consumed as well. The vibe was fun and we had a blast. Now onto G Lounge. Also in Chelsea. Also with a reputation for pretentious service. WHO CARES!!!??? I'm on vacation. As long as you're with cool people who cares about the rest of the crowd? We enjoyed vodka sodas, chilled Patron and their famous frozen cosmos. Conversation flowed and me and my lovely friends bonded. Well that's a nice way of saying we talked a lot!!! Hey how about dancing?? When's the last time you kicked up your heels? Been awhile for me. I took them to Monster in the Village. A hang of mine in 2002 and a totally unsnobby club. I. Danced. My. Ass. Off. Too fun. Now we're hungry and in need of some serious food to soak up the cocktails the bartenders obviously overserved us! One of my favorite places on 6th Ave. and 11th St. is a 24 hour French diner called The French Roast. Yep. A diner. French. 24/7. A couple Croque Monsieurs, french onion soups and some fries did the trick.
I Heart New York. Dang. I should have thought of that earlier. I could have made t shirts or something.
More NYC stories to come my blogger friends. All the best to you. Live. Travel. Feel. Enjoy. Dream. Live some more!
