Some people really have a knack for thinking of truly creative and thoughtful gifts. And some people (me) love the gift card row at Safeway. In honor of my brother Martin's visit to Arizona, I have to give him a shout out as perhaps that person. Someone who goes above and beyond to think of a different gift or even make that gift himself. One Christmas years ago my brother Martin drew my name. I was excited. I was nervous. What would it be? When I opened the package under the tree and saw and VW Beetle Manual and a set of keys, I nearly cried. I was so overwhelmed. I was in college so I knew this would be a cool college car. And it was. For a couple months anyway. You see he got me a 1965 VW Beetle, rusted out, holes in the floor and no heater that I remember. Didn't matter. It was a car. And it was from my brother. And either before or after that, he actually built a HUGE train set for my younger brother with lights, people, mountains, buildings and of course the choo choo train. So thanks Martin. Even though my 1965 VW Beetle died a slow death on a lone stretch of road in Chapman, Minnesota, it was truly my favorite Christmas gift ever.
Merry Christmas everyone! What is your favorite Christmas gift?
